St.
Louis, MO... October 3 & 4, 2009 ----- Swirl, inhale,
sip, and savor, these are the steps to experiencing excellent
wine and where better to explore these steps but in the fall
at the St. Louis Wine Festival. On October 3rd and 4th of this
year another 8,000-10,000 people will attend the festival to
discover a celebration of food, entertainment and of course
superlative wines. To further enhance the party the St. Louis
Wine Festival will again take place in one of our cities most
picturesque and centrally located sites, The Grand Basin in
Forest Park at the foot of Art Hill.
The
Wine Festival will feature over 150 wines from all over the
world presented by more than 25 wine exhibitors. One of the
goals of this high-end festival is to take the fear out of wine
tasting for the novice wine consumer and introduce new wine
varieties to the experienced wine connoisseur while charging
a nominal entrance fee. As the attendance continues to grow
larger with each year, the festival is gradually becoming another
golden St. Louis tradition.
Some
of St. Louis' finest restaurants including: Flemings Prime Steakhouse
and Wine Bar, Morton's Steakhouse and Lucas Park Grille, will
again be on site to make some of their best dishes available
to pair with the wines displayed. In addition the Audi Entertainment
Stage will show live cooking demonstrations from the restaurants
chefs, along with performances from local musical talent throughout
both days including some of our cities finest: Kim Massie and
Erin Bode.
New
to the festival this year is the Belgian Beer Café sponsored
by Stella Artois. The Belgian Beer Café is a designer
beer café lounge within the wine festival that will have
samplings for Stella Artois, Hoegaarden and Leffe beers. Additionally,
there will be wine seminars presented throughout the event by
international wine experts.
The
festival will be held: Saturday, October 3rd (Noon-7pm) and
Sunday, October 4th
(Noon-6pm). Tickets are $25 at the door for adults ($20 in advance)
and $10 for Designated Driver. Group ticket prices for 15 people
or more are $17.50 in advance. Patrons under 21 are free when
accompanied by a paid adult. Adult tickets include a logo souvenir
wine glass, 10 tasting tickets (booklets of 10 additional tickets
are $5), wine taster's program guide, access to all demonstrations,
seminars, musical entertainment and the opportunity to purchase
wine at discount. Tickets can be purchased at the festival entrance,
by calling 888-210-0074 or online at www.stlouiswinefestival.com/
The
St. Louis Wine Festival is pleased to announce they will once
again partner with not-for-profit, The Flora Conservancy of
Forest Park, which plays a key role in providing volunteers
to assist in the operations at the festival. A portion of the
festival proceeds will be donated to the Flora Conservancy.
The
Flora Conservancy
The organization is made up of volunteers who love Forest Park
and are interested in helping the city's Parks Department rejuvenate,
